Our Liability and safety Policy

At Pretty Balloons, your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities. While balloons bring joy and colour to every event, it’s important to remember they are not toys and must be handled responsibly. Please take a moment to read the following safety guidance and liability terms before using our balloon products and displays.

General Safety Guidance

  • Adult Responsibility: All balloon displays, decorations, and gas-filled products provided by Pretty Balloons are intended for use under the supervision of adults (18+). It is the responsibility of the event organiser or adult in charge to ensure safe use at all times.

  • Choking Hazard: Uninflated or broken balloons can present a serious choking hazard to children and pets. Always dispose of broken balloons immediately and keep uninflated balloons away from young children.

  • Helium Safety: Helium is an asphyxiant gas. Inhaling helium can be extremely dangerous and may result in injury or death. Under no circumstances should helium be inhaled. Helium cylinders and filled balloons should only be handled by responsible adults.

  • Placement & Fixtures: Balloons and balloon structures should not be placed near open flames, heat sources, sharp objects, or electrical equipment. If used outdoors, please consider weather conditions such as wind or rain, which may affect stability.

  • Allergy Awareness: Some balloons (particularly latex balloons) may cause allergic reactions. Please inform your guests if latex balloons are being used at your event.

Customer Liability

By hiring or purchasing balloon products and services from Pretty Balloons Limited, you agree and acknowledge the following:

  1. Transfer of Responsibility

    • Once balloon products or displays have been delivered, installed, or handed over, all responsibility for their safe use, supervision, and monitoring rests solely with the client, event organiser, or supervising adult(s).

  2. Exclusion of Liability

    • Pretty Balloons Limited shall not be held liable for any accidents, injuries, allergic reactions, property damage, or other incidents that occur after completion of delivery or installation, including but not limited to:

      • Misuse, mishandling, or alteration of balloon products.

      • Lack of supervision of children, pets, or guests.

      • Environmental conditions (such as heat, weather, or proximity to sharp objects, flames, or electrical hazards).

  3. Indemnification

    • The client or event organiser agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Pretty Balloons Limited against any and all claims, demands, or liabilities arising out of or in connection with the use, display, or presence of balloon products once delivered or installed.

  4. Acknowledgement

    • By engaging Pretty Balloons Limited, you confirm that you understand and accept full responsibility for balloon products after installation or delivery, and release Pretty Balloons Limited from any liability thereafter.

How to Reduce Risks

1. Supervision & Safety

  • Balloons can pose a choking hazard. Children under 8 should not play with balloons without adult supervision.

  • If any balloons deflate or pop, remove and discard pieces immediately.

  • Keep balloons out of pets’ reach to prevent choking or injury.

2. Allergy Awareness

  • Some balloons contain natural latex, which may trigger allergies.

  • If you are concerned about latex sensitivity, ensure guests are aware and keep affected individuals away from balloon areas.

3. Balloon Display Care

  • Do not move, pull, or climb on the display — this can cause balloons to pop or the structure to collapse.

  • Keep displays away from sharp objects, heaters, candles, and lights.

  • Outdoor displays are vulnerable to weather. Strong sun, wind, rain, or heat may cause balloons to deflate, pop, or shift.

4. Helium Balloons (if provided)

  • All helium balloons are delivered pre-weighted. Please keep the weight attached at all times.

  • Do not release helium balloons outdoors — this is unsafe for wildlife, power lines, and may be restricted by law.

  • If a helium balloon comes loose, remove it from ceilings, fans, or lights immediately.

5. After the Event

  • Do not release balloons outdoors. Always pop balloons and place them in the trash.

  • Foil/mylar balloons can often be recycled if facilities are available locally.

  • Balloon frames, bases, and weights provided by us should be returned or disposed of according to your booking agreement.
